PIIC Executive Director, Ellen Eisenberg, recently traveled to Hershey to attend the 21st Century Teaching and Learning Boot Camp held at the Hershey Lodge. Ellen facilitated a break out session with PIIC Mentor, Nancy Neusbaum and PIIC Associate Director, Bruce Eisenberg entitled, “Building Relationships with Other District Coaches.” Sharing Neusbaum’s practical experience in working with coaches around PIIC’s four key components designed to improve student performance and build teacher capacity provided a framework for building effective relationships with teachers, coaches, and administrators.

This collaboration with a variety of instructional coaches, helped PIIC promote the importance of a consistent and uniform delivery of professional development around instructional coaching. Building relationships with teachers and administrators and implementing the PIIC B, D, A cycle of consultation are critical components of an effective instructional coaching model.

Attending the 21st Century Teaching and Learning Boot Camp is a perfect example of PIIC’s continuous effort to provide learning opportunities for all coaches, to enhance professional conversations about teaching and learning, and to support the standards aligned system in addressing school improvement planning across the Commonwealth.
