In 2005, The Annenberg Foundation partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Education to implement the Pennsylvania High School Coaching Initiative (PAHSCI). Funded by The Annenberg Foundation, PAHSCI is a three-year, $31 million instructional coaching initiative. Four additional partner organizations provide support for program implementation: Foundations, Inc., Penn Literacy Network from the University of Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia Foundation and Research for Action. Research support is also provided by The Centre for Data Driven Reform in Education from the Johns Hopkins University and by MPR Associates, Inc. | Over the past 15 years, THE ANNENBERG FOUNDATION has awarded 5,200 grants totaling over $2.8 billion. Recent awards include: $20 million to New Visions to Public Schools to nurture the promise and potential of small high schools in New York City; $6.4 million to the National Constitution Center to support seven programs in Constitutional education and civic engagement; and $4.9 million to the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education to promote shared leadership in individual schools of the Philadelphia School District. | Additional Annenberg Programs and Organizations Annenberg Media provides free K-12 teacher professional development through its own satellite channel and Video on Demand. Founded in 1992, Foundations provides technical assistance, consulting, professional development, and business services, as well as publications and tools for professional development, assessment, and improvement planning. | | The PENN LITERACY NETWORK (PLN) is a comprehensive professional development/curricular enhancement program based in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. PLN provides on-site credit-bearing or non-credit bearing seminars, workshops and mentoring programs to more than 22,000 pre-K-12 educators across the United States and in Ireland in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and technology since 1981. | | RESEARCH FOR ACTION (RFA) is a Philadelphia-based, non-profit organization engaged in educational research and evaluation. Founded in 1992, RFA works with public school districts, educational institutions, and community organizations to improve the educational opportunities for those traditionally disadvantaged by race/ethnicity, class, gender, language/cultural difference, and ability/disability. They seek to strengthen public schools and enrich the civic and community dialogue about public education. | | THE PHILADELPHIA FOUNDATION is a pool of over 700 permanent, charitable trust funds that have been created since 1918 to improve the quality of life in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Today, these funds comprise an asset base in excess of $300 million. In 2005, The Philadelphia Foundation award $21 million in grants to 1,000 nonprofit organizations in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties. In addition, the Philadelphia Foundation provides administrative and management services for a variety of private foundations and non-profit organizations. |
